ANNUAL BEACH CLEAN-UP ACTIVITY






VMA Global College - 602.5 PCGA Division conducted a massive beach clean-up activity at Sanctuary Island, Purok Seawall, Barangay Punta Taytay, Bacolod City last February 20,2008. The activity was organized by the Community Extension Services of the College headed by CAPT FERDINAND M. TURBANOS, PCGA and assisted by LTSG SHIRLY G COMEROS PCGA - CWTS Coordinator. This was participated in by around 1000 students, members of the faculty and staff as part of its contribution to the conservation and protection of our mangrove forest.

The area is within the Mangrove Reforestation Project for the college which was established since year 2000 covering an area of twenty hectares more or less. This 20-hectare mangrove reforestation project is supported by the OISCA International, Tokio Marine Co.Ltd, OISCA Academy of Japan, OISCA Ibaraki Group-Japan, Okaya Lions Club-Japan, Obirin University Students, The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-CENRO Bacolod, Barangay Punta Taytay Council, and various civic action groups.

A total of more than 6,000 kilos of garbage were collected and endorsed to Barangay Punta Taytay for proper garbage disposal making it the biggest garbage collection so far in the area.
