VMA Global College launched the CHED Funded research project entitled " Establishing Baseline Data on Mangrove Reforestation: Basis for Livelihood" held in Brgy Punta Taytay ECO-Toursim Center last February 20,2008. The resaearch project is conducted at the 20-hectare VMA Mangrove Reforestation Project site in Sanctuary Island, Punta Taytay, Bacolod City. Members of the research team are CDR RAUL C ALVAREZ JR, PCGA , CAPT FERDINAND M. TURBANOS, PCGA together with two other researchers from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and La-Consolacion College Bacolod. The research project is expected to be completed in six months time duration.
A tripartite Memorandum of Agreement for the "ADOPT -A-MANGROVE PROJECT" covering an area of Thirty (30) hectares was also signed by and between CAPT ELIZABETH O. SALABAS, PCGA and President of VMA Global College, CAPT RUFINO ALCALA,PCGA Chairman of Brgy Council of Punta Taytay, and the Officer of the Department of Natural Resources -CENRO Bacolod. Representatives from the City Mayors office, Congressional Office of the Lone District of Bacolod, City Environment Office of Bacolod, the Vice Mayor of Bacolod City, and the Chairman of the Environment Committee were present during the said launching ceremony and MOA Signing.
